Hi! My name is Grace and I am a research associate at North Carolina State University in the College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Pack!). I work in the Rhea lab and focus on public health research as it relates to Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health. I graduated from the Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) with a Master in Public Health and specialization in Veterinary Public Health and One Health. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!). Throughout my academic and professional career, I have been attracted to impactful research and the interconnectedness of today’s world. When I studied abroad in Kenya with the School for Field Studies, I started to see the complexities of human- animal interactions and the influence of the natural environment. When I worked for the Ohio Department of Health conducting mosquito surveillance for West Nile Virus, I got to be a part of the human-animal-environment complex that influences the health of all. Despite how big the world is, it moves pretty fast and everything is tied to time and place. While completing this course, I have learned to use a powerful tool that helps to bring these passions together. I am interested in the research, surveillance, control, and communication of infectious disease, especially zoonotic disease, food-borne illness, and vector-borne disease but I am most interested in understanding where these collide.
I’d be happy to connect with you!
